Hall of Fame
One of the greatest offensive threats in the history of Wagner College Baseball, Avella holds the overall school records for both home runs (50) and RBI's (165). He also ranks fourth in hits (229), second in doubles (52), third in games played (211), and fourth in at-bats (748). Additionally, Avella ranks among the single-season leaders in home runs (17, 16, and 10) (1st, 2nd, and 9th), RBI's (60 and 48) (1st and 6th), and doubles (16) (7th). A dual threat, Avella was also stellar in the field, registering a school record of 1,470 putouts and recorded three of the top six single-season putout records in Wagner history (450, 441, 419) (1st, 3rd, 6th). Avella also captured NEC Baseball All-Conference Second Team honors during both his sophomore season in 2008 and his senior season in 2010. Additionally, he was named to the prestigious Brooks Wallace Award Watch List in 2009, which recognizes the nation's top collegiate shortstop.
