All the way from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Martin Ansa (1962-1963) made a lasting impact on the Wagner Seahawks as the team’s leading scorer in two of his three varsity seasons as well as on the freshman team.

Under coach Herb Sutter, Ansa became the seventh player to reach 1,000 points for his career and graduated with the career record of 19.1 points per game (currently fourth). He also currently holds the record for most free throws made in a game with 18, which was achieved on two separate occasions. As a freshman, he set a program record with two 44 point games.

Following graduation in 1964, Ansa joined the Puerto Rican National Team for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
