Jim Lee Howell coached the Wagner football team for seven seasons from 1947-1953, compiling a 24-30-3 record over those seven seasons and is most known for his coaching stint with NFL's New York Football Giants. The late Howell was instrumental in rebuilding a Wagner football program after the United States fought in World War II, culminating in helping guide the Green & White to a 7-1-1 record in 1949. Well respected among his peers and colleagues, Howell was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at the dedication of the Frederic Sutter Gymnasium in 1953. He and his wife Susan had four children; Tim, Marc, Susan and Lee.
