A First-Team Little All-American in 1967, John Gloistein (1964-1967) is one of top defensive players in school history. Gloistein helped the 1967 squad to an undefeated seasons and a berth in the Lambert Bowl, leading a defense that allowed an average of just 4.6 points per game. A defensive tackle on he possessed excellent mobility and a knack for diagnosing plays and was selected as the ECAC Player of the Year following a standout senior season by the ECAC Awards Committee.

A gentle giant off the field, he also played offense in certain situations and would at times be called upon to deliver a key block. He seemed to save his biggest plays for the most crucial times in the most important games. A multi-sport athlete, Gloistein was also a shot putter on the Seahawk track & field team.
