One of the most dominant defensive players in Wagner history, Sal D’Alessio (1980-1983) keyed some of Wagner’s best teams from his linebacker position. In D’Alessio’s four seasons, the Seahawks compiled a record of 33-6-2, made their first two NCAA Tournament appearances (1981 and 1982) and captured their first ECAC Championship in 1983.

D’Alessio became the first Seahawk to record three 100-tackle seasons since defensive stats were recorded in 1969. His 457 career tackles are the most in Wagner history. His 133 tackles in 1981 are the third most for one season. As a senior in 1983, D’Alessio was named a Second Team All-American by the Associated Press, to go along with several other All-American honors.
