Donald “Whitey” Drown (1947-1949) particularly excelled as a three-sport standout for the Green & White while on Grymes Hill. One of the top ends to ever play for Wagner football team, Drown played for Hall of Fame coach Jim Lee Howell, serving as a captain during his senior year in 1949. Drown paced the squad to a 7-1-1 record en route to earning Team MVP honors.
In addition to football, he also played basketball and tennis during his time at Wagner. Following graduation, he served as a college professor and basketball coach for over 30 years before retiring.
