Robert Hicks (1962-1977) served 16 seasons as the Wagner football coach and was one of the most successful coaches in the program’s history. Posting a solid 77-64-6 over his 16-year tenure (1962-1977, Hicks guided the Seahawks to undefeated campaigns in 1964 and 1967, with the latter capturing the Lambert Trophy as the top team in the East.
An excellent developer of talent, Hicks coached former NFL Player and Eagles and Jets Head Coach Rich Kotite. A number Hick’s players were also selected little All-American as well as All-East and his 77 victories are the second-most behind only Walt Hameline,(1981-2014) who amassed 223 wins.
