A four-year member of the varsity basketball team, Charlie Harreus (1951-1955) is still the only Wagner student-athlete to grab 1,000 rebounds, finishing up with a school-record 1,096 while posting an average of 11.1 rebounds per game. During his time on Grymes Hill, he helped the Seahawks to a combined 63-36 record. He also graduated second on the all-time points list with 1,029 and is the only former player to hit the century mark in both scoring and rebounding.

He also still ranks among the top-10 in single-season rebounds (349), career rebounding average (11.1) and single-season season rebound average (12.9). As a senior, he was co-captain of the basketball team which averaged 76.9 points over 21 games en route to posting a 14-7 record. A multi-sport athlete, Harreus was also on the track & field team, which he captained as a senior and was the high-point man in every track meet.
