One of the finest basketball players to attend Wagner College, James Ciampaglio currently stands as the fourth all-time leading scorer in Seahawk history, having scored 1,814 points over his career. The guard averaged 17.3 points per game during his stay and was the leader of the famed 1978-79 squad that finished the season with a 21-7 mark en route to a berth in NIT, where the Green & White fell by a slim 83-81 count to Old Dominion. Ciampaglio owns the record for free throw percentage in a single season at 86.4 percent, achieved during the 1980-1981 season. Following that campaign, he earned an Honorable Mention All-American nod and was selected to the ECAC Metropolitan New York-New Jersey All-Star Team. After graduation, he coached for 11 years on the collegiate level, most notably as an assistant under head coach Tom Penders at Rhode Island and Texas.
