The late Rudy Fusco (1958-1961), who valiantly served as a medic in the Korea War for 18 months before attending Wagner, became a four-year starter in helping Seahawks to a 21-5 record over his final three years. Included in this stretch was the perfect 9-0 season in 1960, in which the versatile Fusco played on both sides of the line.

During his senior season of 1961, Fusco was elected team co-captain along with Ben Sarullo. Following the Homecoming game, he earned the Robb Memorial Trophy, given annually to the team's outstanding player of the game. Fusco graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education and was soon hired by Valley Stream Central High School where he would teach mathematics for 33 years and coach football for 20, before his retirement in 1995
