One of the most accomplished football players in Wagner’s history, John Mangiante is the only Seahawk to win the James Robb Memorial Trophy, given to the outstanding offensive player in the Homecoming game, three times, collecting the honor in 1952, 1956 and 1957. Mangiante made his mark at Wagner by becoming the first player to accrue over 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in his career. As a senior in 1957, he served as a co-captain and was selected as an Honorable Mention Little All-American. Following retirement, Mangiante coached football at Union Hill High School in Union, NJ for 12 years and the track & field team for five years.
