Jane Stowell-Brown was one of the great basketball players of her time. Over her four years (1947-51), the late Stowell-Brown amassed 612 career points in just 37 games, for an average of 16.5 points per game. Her best game came in 1951 when she netted 29 points against Equitable Life Insurance. Basketball was not the only arena in which she excelled, as she also served as a pioneer in the movement to make softball a varsity sport at Wagner. She served as a basketball captain and was also involved in various organizations, often serving in leadership roles.
