Hall of Fame
One of the biggest Wagner College supporters, the late Les R. Trautmann was rarely absent from a Seahawk athletic event. A 1940 graduate, Trautmann competed for the Seahawks in basketball, where he was a forward, and track and field as a middle distance runner. After graduation, Trautmann began a distinguished career as a newspaper journalist in Massachusetts, then Florida before returning to work for the Staten Island Advance. In 1965 he was named the Editor-in-Chief of the Advance and continued his support for Wagner College. Trautmann was a founding member of the Wagner Athletic Hall of Fame and is remembered as a person quick to recognize any Green & White athlete.
