One of the top gridiron stars for the Seahawks, Matt Scaffa took a team that had went just 8-14-2 in three years following the war and led them to a 7-1-1 record in 1949. During that season, Scaffa directed the team through an eight-game unbeaten streak and to a school record 254 points, which stood until 1960. Scaffa graduated as the season and career leader in completions and passing yards. The late Scaffa was survived by his wife Janet.
