Lionel Rotelli

Lionel Rotelli, known as "Ro" By his peers, played four years of basketball for Wagner from 1950-1954. Rotelli was instrumental in the transition from an offensive "set-up" approach to a fast break style / pressing style of basketball. In his three years of varsity basketball, Rotelli, a high-scoring guard, scored 850 points and in his senior season led his team to an 18-6 record. As a freshman Rotelli set a J.V. single-season record with 183 points. At his graduation he was honored with the prestigious Herbert T. Holter Memorial Award for the most outstanding athlete of the year at Wagner College. A multi-sport athlete, he was also a shortstop on the baseball team and served as the senior class president. He and his wife Susan have three children; Lionel, Joseph and Susan.
