One of the most prolific scorers in Wagner College basketball history, Ray Hodge (1967-1970) graduated as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,996 points, a number that currently ranks ranks third in the all-time Seahawk annals en route to being named a Third Team All-American as a junior in 1968-1969.

More impressive was that number was achieved in just 82 games over three seasons as athletes during that time were not allowed to compete as freshmen. Hodge still holds the record for most points in a game with 49 versus Moravian in 1969 (later matched by Terrence Bailey). At the time of his graduation, Hodge’s 27.4 points per game average in 1970 and his 26.1 average in 1969 were the top two marks in school history (currently third and fourth). A complete basketball player, Hodge also ranked seventh in rebounding at the time of his graduation with 734 career caroms. Hodge’s teams posted a 50-32 record during his tenure.

A multi-talented athlete, he also competed for the Green & White’s track & field team as a sprinter. A member of the Virgin Islands National Team, he was drafted by the New York Knicks in the seventh round of the 1970 NBA Draft following graduation.
