A multi-sport athlete, Captain Clement Bosco (1951-1955) played four years of baseball under Wagner Hall of Fame Coach Herb Sutter while also earning two letters as a fullback on the football team. An established force on the mound, the late Bosco once pitched 21 scoreless innings in a doubleheader.
Bosco also claimed a Metropolitan League home run crown, earning a spot on the Metro All-Star Team. His name still graces the Wagner record book, ranking sixth with a 1.32 ERA in 1953 while earning the victory in six of the Seahawks’ eight wins in the 1954 season.
After graduation, he left Grymes Hill to coach for the Navy Football Program in 1956-57. A United States Navy Captain, he was awarded a Bronze Star in Vietnam and participated in the Cuban Blockade in 1962.
