An exceptional two-way player for fabled coach Mickey Sullivan, Anthony Franchina (1957-1960) was a four-year starter for Wagner at both center and middle linebacker from, helping the Seahawks to a 15-2 mark over his last two campaigns including the program’s first-ever undefeated season at 9-0 in 1960.

A First-Team All-Conference selection in each of his last two seasons, Franchina was chosen to the All-ECAC team after a fine senior campaign in which he led Wagner to its first ever unblemished season. It was not uncommon for Franchina to play all 60 minutes in every game, leading the squad in minutes played in all four seasons.
