Hall of Fame
One of the first in a long line of Seahawk football greats, Jay Quintana was the leading rusher for the 1948 and 1949 Wagner squads. In two seasons of varsity play, the transfer from Williams College amassed 985 rushing yards, the career standard at the time, while also playing defense. Behind the late Quintana’s exploits, Wagner went 7-1-1 in 1949, and piled up 254 points, a mark that was only reached by one other Seahawk team before 1980. Quintana also was a standout on the basketball team. Following graduation, Quintana returned to Wagner and served as an assistant coach for the basketball and football teams in the 1950 before retiring to North Carolina.
