University Park, PA – The Wagner College men's basketball team trailed just 37-30 at the halfway mark, but the short-handed Seahawks came up short in a 91-64 loss against Big 10 member Penn State on Saturday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Graduate student Curtis Cobb III led all scorers with 19 points, while junior Alex Morales added 18 points, his second double-digit performance to start the season. Junior Elijah Ford was the third Seahawk in double figures with 12 points in his first action in Green and White.
Limited to just eight players on the day, the gritty Seahawks jumped out to a 9-5 lead on a jumper by junior Will Martinez four minutes into the contest.

After Penn State took the lead, back-to-back baskets by Cobb pulled Wagner to within one at 18-17 midway through the first half, while another Cobb three cut the deficit to 35-30 with one minute to play in the opening period.

Graduate student Patrick Szpir and Ford each grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, while Martinez paced the Seahawks with four assists in his first career start.

Penn State used a 13-1 run to start the second half to earn their second win of the season, while the Seahawks fall to 0-2 on the year.

Five Nittany Lions scored in double figures, led by Myreon Jones' 14 points.

Next up, Wagner will take on Wesley in the Seahawks' home opener on Tuesday, November 12, with tip-off set for 7 pm.
