Loretto, PA – Just four days removed from a meeting on Grymes Hill, the Wagner and Saint Francis University women's lacrosse teams square off once again Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. from DeGol Field in a Northeast Conference (NEC) with conference tournament implications.
Last Time Out For Wagner
The Seahawks posted their largest margin of victory of the season on Saturday, knocking off the Red Flash 19-4 at Hameline Field.
Senior
Madeline Seims scored four times, leading a group of 10 different scorers for the Seahawks, while
Megan Greco and senior
Stefani Peluso each netted hat tricks. Greco's highlight-reel behind-the-back goal made the SportsCenter Top 10 for Saturday.
Freshman
Kelsey Scheidel scored her first two career goals and senior
Erin Kerstetter scored once while assisting on four others. Graduate student
Megan Drum, junior
Maria Henwood, and sophomores
Lindsay MacLachlan and
Sarah Shaughnessy each scored once as well for Wagner.
Junior
Kasey Dorney capped a monster week on with two goals, two assists, six ground balls, six caused turnovers and nine draw controls. She was named NEC Defensive Player and Co-Player of the Week for her efforts on both sides of the ball.
On the back line, junior
Aileen Hannan caused four turnovers and scooped four ground balls, while graduate students
Lindsay Haas and
Isabel Glace each finished with three ground balls and a turnover.
In goal, junior
Lauren DiStefano made five saves and sophomore
Jillian Olsen made four saves in 13 minutes in her first action as a Seahawk.
Wagner-Saint Francis History
Saturday's win pushed the Seahawks' all-time record against the Red Flash to 8-1, including three straight wins.
About Saint Francis
The Red Flash fell to 4-7 overall and 4-6 in conference play with Saturday's loss.
Emileigh Scott came into Saturday with 24 goals in her previous six games, but Wagner managed to hold her to a single goal. She remains the team leader with 33 goals and 38 points.
Autumn McHenry leads the team with 18 assists and is second with 32 points, but Wagner kept her off the score sheet on Saturday for the first time since Saint Francis' season opener. Livia Baker had scored at least two goals in nine of the team's 10 games this season, but like they did with McHenry, Wagner kept Baker off the score sheet as well on Saturday for the first time all season.
Elyssa Enrique has played all 660 minutes in net this season, posting a .482 save percentage and an 11.82 goals against average.
What's at Stake
Wagner clinched an NEC Tournament berth with the win Saturday and remain in control of their own destiny for the #2 seed by virtue of their head-to-head tiebreaker with Long Island (LIU).
