BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Wagner College women's lacrosse sophomore midfielder Sydney Mulroony has been named an NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after her performances against Stonehill and CCSU, announced by the conference on Monday.
In a 1-1 week for the Seahawks, Mulroony scored five goals, dished out four assists, and added four ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and four draw controls.
On Wednesday, April 8, Mulroony scored one goal with two ground balls, five caused turnovers, and caused three turnovers against the Skyhawks. A few days later against the Blue Devils, Mulroony scored four goals with four assists, two ground balls, three caused turnovers, and one draw control.
The Rockaway, NJ native leads the Seahawks in points (35), assists (14), caused turnovers (20) and ground balls (34). Mulroony leads the NEC in ground balls per game (2.62).
For Mulroony, this is her third NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
Mulroony secured her first conference Defensive Player of the Week nod against Delaware State back on March 14. Against the Hornets, Mulroony scored two goals to go along with one assist, seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers in the Seahawks' 18-3 conference opener.
The very next week against New Haven, Mulroony filled the stat sheet with four goals to go along with a season-high nine ground balls, two caused turnovers, and a season-high five draw controls in the Seahawks' 14-9 conference win on Hameline Field.
Additionally, senior Emily Ryan and senior Kristina Pisano were named Week 10 NEC Prime Performers after their showings against Stonehill and CCSU.
Ryan scored consecutive hat-tricks while Pisano nailed six goals to go along with two assists against Stonehill before tacking on one more against the Blue Devils.
Next up, Mulroony, Ryan, and Pisano travel to Howard for a noon start on Saturday, April 18.
