WASHINGTON, D.C. — Wagner dominated on the road at Howard Saturday, taking a 13-5 win over the Bison to improve to 5-2 in NEC play.
The Seahawks scored steadily, putting up two, three and two in the first three periods of play before exploding for six goals scored in the final period while also shutting out Howard. Wagner outshot Howard 26-19, logging 21 shots on goal.
Sophomore Sydney Mulroony and freshman Maia LiSanti led the way for the Seahawks with three goals apiece. Mulroony finished with four points, adding an assist on a goal from freshman Breanne Tavares to kick off the scoring in the fourth period. Freshman goalkeeper Isabella Odland, in her fifth start this season, faced 19 shots and recorded 11 saves, collecting five ground balls.
Freshman Avery White had a massive outing in her second game of the season, adding five points on three assists and a pair of goals. She finished the contest with four total shots, including three shots on goal. Tavares and White led the Seahawks in assists with three apiece. Four Seahawks combined for Wagner's eight assists.
Junior Amelia Logan kicked off the scoring in the first with a goal assisted by senior Shea Saracino, which started a back-and-forth battle that stretched into the second period. Wagner and Howard were tied 3-3 at the 10:07 mark in the second period off a goal from Bison Sophia Lima. The Seahawks answered, though, by capitalizing on man-up opportunities and went on a three-goal scoring run to take a 6-3 lead in the third period.
Wagner outscored Howard 3-2 in the second and the Bison were able to match the Seahawks 2-2 in the third, but the Seahawks' defense proved too much and the Bison did not score after the 1:31 mark in the third period.
Next up, the Seahawks hit the road to take on FDU on Saturday, April 25 in the regular season finale. The game at University Stadium in Teaneck, New Jersey is set for a noon start.
