Andover, MA - The Wagner baseball team kicks off a seven-game road trip this weekend as the Seahawks square off against the Merrimack College Warriors for a three-game set, beginning on Saturday afternoon.

Schedule Update (April 16, 2021 4:17 PM): Saturday's first-pitch between Wagner and Merrimack has been pushed back to a 3:00 p.m. start.
Last Time Out For Wagner...
- Sophomore catcher David Melfi homered in both games of an April 10 doubleheader as the Seahawks earned a split against the LIU Sharks at FirstEnergy Park, earning an 8-3 come-from-behind victory in game one before dropping the nightcap, 14-3.
- Game One
- Five Seahawks had two hits apiece, led by Melfi, who drove in three RBI and scored twice.
- Henry Martinez crossed the plate twice and added two hits.
- John LaPointe earned his first win of the season after throwing 7.1 scoreless inning in relief. The Staten Island native did not allow a hit until the fifth inning and once again to start the ninth.
- Game Two
All-Time Against Merrimack...
- This weekend's series against the Warriors marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs, with Merrimack moving to Division One prior to last season..

- The Seahawks rank 12th in the nation in stolen bases per game, swiping 2.06 bases per contest.
- Wagner, as a whole, rank 60th in the country in stolen bases, stealing 35 bases this season.
- Jared Gillen leads Wagner with a .408 batting average and an OPS of .943 (.507 SLG%, .436 OB%).
- Gillen ranks 29th in the nation in batting average
- In the NEC, Gillen rank second in batting average, ninth in on-base percentage and tied for fifth in hits with 29.
- He ranks seventh in the NEC in slugging and sixth in on-base percentage.
- The Stillwell, KS native ranks among the top-ten in RBI with 16 and is currently fourth in the league in doubles with seven.
- On the mound, Josh Casado and Ryan Lauk rank first and third, respectively, holding opposing batters to a .172 and .205 batting average.
- Lauk ranks second in the league with 44 strikeouts.
About The Warriors...
- Merrimack enters the weekend looking to snap a three-game losing streak as they enter with a 9-14 overall record and a 5-7 league mark.
- The Warriors are 2-3 over their last five games, earning road victories at Holy Cross (12-11, April 7) and in the NEC series opener at Central Connecticut (14-10, 10 innings, April 9).
- Joey Porricelli leads the team in batting average (.350), slugging (.663), on-base (.495), runs scored (26), hits (28) and home runs (5).
