Hamden. CT – Coming off a 9-8 victory at VMI, the Wagner men's lacrosse team takes to the road again when the Seahawks travel to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) member Quinnipiac to meet the Bobcats on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. faceoff.

Both teams enter Saturday's play with matching 2-3 records. Tuesday's win at VMI was the third one-goal game of the season for the Seahawks, who had previously dropped an 8-7 double-overtime decision at Lafayette, and a 9-8 contest at Dartmouth.

In Tuesday's win at VMI, senior attackman Andrew Streilein and sophomore attackman Nic Ancona each recorded a hat trick and junior goalie Matt Sefcik came up with a career-high 20 saves.

For the season, Streilein leads the team in points with 15 (7g, 8a), with the eight assists also topping the team. Ancona, meanwhile, is the team-leader in goals with 10 (10g, 1a) and second on the team in points with 11. Wagner's third-leading scorer is junior attackman John Norton with nine points (9g).

Senior defenseman Andrew Park leads the Seahawks in both ground balls (21) and caused turnovers (11) with his 2.20 CT's per game ranking eighth in the nation and No. 1 in the NEC. In the faceoff circle, freshman midfielder Hank Ontiveros, who earned NEC Co-Rookie of the Week honors last week,  leads the team with a .574 winning percentage (31-of-54), though sophomore Nick Warren has also found success in the X as his 10-of-17 day in the VMI win would attest.

In goal, junior Matt Sefcik boasts a 13.8 saves per game average (69 total), which ranks fourth nationally (No. 1 in NEC), along with a save percentage of .611, which ranks fifth nationally (No. 1 in NEC). In addition, his 8.98 goals against average ranks 18th nationally (No. 1 in NEC).

Following the Quinnipiac game, the Green & White are next in action on Saturday, March 17 when they host Hobart in the Northeast Conference opener. The St. Patrick's Day faceoff at Hameline Field between the Seahawks and the Statesmen is set for 1:00 p.m.
