Hank Ontiveros has been named Co-Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
In the Seahawks' lone game this week, a tough 9-8 loss at Dartmouth on Saturday, Ontiveros had a monster day in the faceoff circle at Dartmouth on Saturday as he won 16-of-20 faceoffs vs. the Big Green. The Carlsbad, CA native also collected a team-high six ground balls and came up with a critical late assist. Nic Ancona who delivered the score to make it a 9-7 game. The Seahawks would add one more goal down the stretch but were unable to sink the equalizer as the Big Green held on for the win.
The Seahawks, who are 1-3 on the season with two of those losses coming by one goal, are next in action on Tuesday, March 6 when they travel to Lexington, VA to meet the VMI Keydets in a 3:30 p.m. faceoff.
