Senior middle distance runner Emily Pereira (Howell, NJ/ Freehold Township) of the women's track & field team has been named the Walsh Electric Student Athletes of the Month for January. Pereira set the Seahawk record in the 400m at the Metro Team Challenge with a mark of 58.14 seconds, placing 10th out of 57 competitors. Pereira was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Track Athlete of the Week (Jan. 20) after her performance at the Gotham Cup where she sprinted to a 500m time of 1:16.50, finishing 14th of 70 entrants. The Garden State native was also a member of the Green & White distance medley relay team which qualified for the ECAC Championships in Boston, MA from March 6-8, after recording a time of 12:05.41 as they won their heat and claimed eighth overall.
