Nicholas Del Ponte has made a huge splash in her first season as a Seahawk and is coming off a month of March where she batted a robust, team-leading .375 batting average with one home and 24 RBI. Her month was highlighted by earning consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) Softball Rookie of the Week honors. Her second NEC accolade was announced on March 19 and came after she compiled eight RBIs on four hits in three games at the St. John's Invite, none bigger than her go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning of Wagner's win over Holy Cross that kick-started a five-run inning for the Green and White in a 9-6 win over the Crusaders. The Peoria, AZ, native recorded three RBIs in consecutive games against St. John's and Holy Cross, before adding two RBIs in the Seahawks' first contest against Hofstra, bringing her season total to a team-leading 24 runs batted in. In the previous week when she picked up her first NEC Rookie honor, Del Ponte recorded nine RBIs in two games at the Colorado State Classic.
