Trausti Thorstein made his presence felt quickly on the collegiate stage in being awarded Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie Athlete of the Week honors following each of the first two events of his young career. Competing in his first cross country competition, Thorstein captured first-place honors in the Freshman/Sophomore 6k run, clocking in a time of 19:14.2 at the Monmouth XC Season Kickoff. The following week, competing in the Shawn Nasseny Invitational, Thorstein was the top overall finisher for the Seahawks, placing sixth with a time of 25:33.8, which earned the Icelandic native his first Rookie of the Week honor. Thorstein earned his second Rookie of the Week award following his fifth place finish at the Henry Mercer Invitational clocking in a time of 27:11.4, which lead the Seahawks to a second place finish at the competition.
