A.J. Firestone is the Wagner College Walsh Electrical Contracting Men’s Student-Athlete of the Month for November. In contests vs. Central Connecticut (11/2), Monmouth (11/9) and in the season-ending 10-7 win at Saint Francis U (11/16), the senior punter booted the ball 18 times for 766 yards, which computes to a 42.6-yard average. The Mercersburg, PA native played a key role in the win over the Red Flash, when he punted seven times for a 45.2-yard, twice pinning the SFU inside its own 20. On Wagner's first possession of the second half, the Penn State transfer kept the drive alive when he converted a fake punt on 4th-and-3 from the Seahawks' 39. Later in the third quarter, he angled a 44-yard boot that sailed out of bounds at the SFU 6-yard line. His first punt of the fourth quarter was also a crucial one, as this 48-yard punt pushed the Red Flash back to its own 16. Firestone was named First-Team All-Northeast Conference (NEC) in 2013 after averaging 41.0 yards on 28 punts, with a long of 52, three punts over 50 yards, four touchbacks, five fair catches, and five punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He saw his first action of the season on Oct. 26 at Robert Morris, after rehabbing a knee injury sustained in the NCAA 2nd Round FCS Playoff Game at Eastern Washington on Dec. 1, 2012.
