Senior strong safety Patrick O’Connor is the Wagner College Men’s Student-Athlete of the Month for September. O’Connor came out of the gate blazing this year, recording double-digits in each of the Seahawks’ first three games. In the season opener at Florida Atlantic, though technically not in September (August 31), O’Connor matched his career high with 10 tackles and recovered a fumble inside the Seahawk 10-yard line following a jarring hit by senior linebacker C.O. Prime. For his efforts, the 6-1, 190-pound O’Connor was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week. The following week at Georgetown (9/8), O’Connor set a career-high again, accumulating 13 tackles while coming up with three pass breakups, including one in the end zone. O’Connor made it three straight double-digit tackle games by recording 10 vs. Monmouth (9/15). In victories over Central Connecticut (9/22) and Bryant (9/21), the Leominster, MA native recorded six and seven tackles, respectively. For the season, O’Connor is tops on the team in tackles per game (9.2), a figure that ranks fourth in the NEC.
