Junior goalkeeper Laura Karbach (Abington, PA / Germantown Academy) is the March Female Student-Athlete of the Month, following a stretch that was highlighted by her earning a pair of MAAC Defensive Player of the Week awards and playing an integral role in victories  over No. 12 Cal State Northridge and No. 14 Hawaii. Karbach amassed a total of 79 saves for the Seahawks during the team’s nine-game West Coast spring break trip which included appearances in Cal-State Bakersfield’s Roadrunner Invitational and San Diego St.’s Aztec Invitational. On March 17, the Keystone State native played a big hand in one of the greatest days in Seahawk water polo history. She recorded nine saves in the 5-4 victory over No. 12 Cal State Northridge and followed that up with an eight-save outing in the 7- 6 vanquishing of No. 14 Hawaii. Following the back-to-back wins over ranked teams, the Seahawks were ranked 20th in the March 21 Collegiate Water Polo (CWPA) Poll, marking the first time in school history that Wagner has gained entry into the poll. Her efforts in California earned Karbach her first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week honor of the month. On the weekend of March 24-25, Karbach amassed a total of 35 saves for the Seahawks in helping guide Wagner to wins over MAAC rivals Marist, Siena, St. Francis (NY) and Villanova as she earned her second MAAC Defensive Player of the Week award of the month. On the season, Karbach has been named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week three times.
