In April, Anton Frondelius (Munkedal, Sweden / The Gunner) turned in the greatest month that any Wagner men's golfer has ever had in program history. He began the month with a first-place finish at the 36-hole Lehigh Invitational (4/2-4/3), besting a talented and deep 108-person field after shooting 70-73-143 (one-under par), which got him in a three-way playoff. He then fended off Villanova's Lucas Trim and Eric Dietrich of nationally-ranked UConn on the second hole of a playoff. Frondelius capped the month by capturing the 54-hole 2017 NEC Men's Golf Championship (4/28-4/30), with scores of 71-74-70-215 (one-under par), to win by two strokes. In doing so, Frondelius became the first Seahawk men's golfer to claim the NEC individual championship, an effort that punched his ticket to the 2017 NCAA Men's Golf Championship. In between his stellar twin championships, Frondelius finished in a tie for second place at the Rhode Island Invitational (4/17-4/18) and in a tie for eighth at the Navy Spring Classic (4/22-4/23).Â
