Senior Tori McGrath (Delmar, NY/ Bethlehem Central) of the Northeast Conference (NEC) champion women’s lacrosse team has been named the Walsh Electric Women’s Student-Athletes of the Month for May. McGrath poured in five goals in leading the Seahawks to a 17-7 win over Robert Morris in the semifinals of the NEC Tournament before tallying two goals and an assist in the 11-7 win over Bryant in the NEC title game en route to being named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. In the four games played in the month of May, McGrath sank a team-high 10 goals while her 11 points for the month ranked second on the team. The 5-10 attacker scored on a team-high 71.4 percent of her shots for the month as her 10 goals came on just 14 shots. For the month, McGrath also collected three groundballs and picked up three draw controls. In the semifinal win over Robert Morris, McGrath tallied four of her five goals in the opening half as Wagner used a 4-0 run to erase an early 3-2 deficit in building a 6-3 halftime lead. With Wagner on top 7-4 early in the second half, the Seahawks put the game away by scoring seven unanswered goals in building a commanding 14-4 lead on their way to the 17-7 win.
