GREENWOOD, Ind. — Five student-athletes from the Wagner baseball team were named to the College Sports Communicator's Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Graduate Lukas Torres, senior Colin Trizuto, senior Justin Roitman, junior Diego Tavarez and junior Joseph Mennella were each selected as member of the team, selected for a combination of on-field and classroom performance.
Torres, Tavarez and Mennella were selected as finalists for the Academic All-America team, set to be voted on later in the month of June.
Torres, pursuing a Master's of Business administration degree, finished his second degree at Wagner with a 3.936 GPA. He finishes his 2026 season as an All-NEC first team selection, batting .406 with a team-leading 52 walks.
Trizuto, majoring in economics, graduates with a 3.907 GPA in his second year as a Seahawk. Earning a spot on both the All-NEC second team and the NEC's All-Tournament team, Trizuto posted a 4.57 ERA this season. Across 88.2 innings and 15 starts, the senior struck out 51 and walked just 28.
Roitman graduates Wagner with a 3.828 cumulative GPA after two seasons as a Seahawk as well, earning a degree in business administration. The strikeout leader for Wagner this season, the righty struck out 63 in 59.1 innings of work, starting 12 times in 15 appearances to finish with a 5.76 ERA.
Tavarez, in three years at Wagner, has accumulated a 3.822 cumulative GPA as a finance major. Batting .337 in 2026, the junior has been a mainstay in left field and logged 55 runs on 56 hits, finishing with 14 doubles and 38 RBIs.
Mennella, majoring in sports administration through two years at Wagner, has a 3.564 cumulative GPA. Batting .376 his junior year, Mennella's 67 RBIs are a new single-season record for the Wagner program. His 71 hits are second on the team behind Torres.
