Baseball Takes on Defending NEC Champion CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The Seahawks are hitting the road to take on the 2025 NEC champion in CCSU, beginning Thursday, April 2.

Wagner enters the weekend at 9-16 this season and 7-5 in NEC play, while CCSU is 7-11 in 2026 with a 5-7 record in NEC play.

Last Week Out

Wagner is coming off a 1-3 week, dropping its first pair of games at New Haven in two 9-8 losses on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28. The Seahawks were able to take game three to avoid the series sweep, finishing with a 14-5 win that was the team's highest scoring game of 2026. A Tuesday midweek loss at St. John's, 11-2, was Wagner's final game coming into the weekend.

CCSU was also on the road, taking on Stonehill for its NEC series. The Skyhawks took the opener 4-3, then the Blue Devils were able to snag an 11-10 win in a 12-inning slugfest for game two, but Stonehill came back on Sunday and took a 20-5 win to take the series. CCSU took a 12-8 win over Sacred Heart in its March 31 midweek game, riding that win into the weekend.

The 2025 Series

The Seahawks took their series over CCSU in 2025, winning the first half of a Friday doubleheader in a massive 15-1, run-rule win. The Blue Devils closed the day with a 7-3 victory, then Wagner came back Saturday and won a gritty 8-6 game to take the series.

Three weeks later, the teams met back up in the NEC Tournament. Wagner, as the No. 2 seed, had to take on No. 3 CCSU and ultimately took an 8-3 loss that sent the Seahawks into the bottom half of the bracket. Wagner finished 1-2 in the tournament, losing to No. 1 LIU in the semifinal. CCSU went on to beat the Sharks in the championship to take the NEC automatic bid to the NCAA's Auburn Regional.

Heavy Hitters

Junior Antonio Ducatelli leads the Blue Devils, batting .343 across 18 games played. Eight of his 24 hits gave gone for extra bases and he has worked eight walks.
