Lakewood, NJ -  The Wagner baseball team renews its season series with the Bryant University Bulldogs this weekend at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, NJ. 
 

Last Time Out...
  • Trailing 5-2 in the series finale against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday, the Seahawks scored three times in the bottom of the eighth but the Knights pushed across the deciding run in the ninth to edge out a 6-5 victory in taking two of three from the Green & White. 
  • Over the three-game series, Jared Gillen batted .600 (6 for 10) with a team-leading four runs scored and four RBI.
  • In the seven games against FDU this season, Gillen finished batting .455 (15 for 33) with eight runs scored, three doubles, a home run, and a team-high 13 RBI.

All-Time Against Bryant...
  • The Seahawks trail in the all-time series, 34-14. 
  • 40 of 48 all-time meetings between the two squads have been decided by four runs or less, which includes 14 of the last 17 meetings. 
 
Seahawk Tidbits...
  • This weekend's contest will feature the top four hitters in the Northeast Conference (NEC) - Liam McGill, Bryant (.467), Jared Gillen, Wagner (.405), Jake Gustin, Bryant (.370), and James Ciliento, Bryant (.352). 
    • Gillen ranks 16th in the nation with the .405 batting average and enters the series with the Bulldogs on a 12-game hitting streak. 
  • Freddy Sabido enters the weekend eighth all-time on the Wagner career-hit list with 209 hits. The Staten Island, NY native recorded his 200th career hit back on April 1 against the Bulldogs in Smithfield, RI.
  • Sabido needs 11 hits to move into the fifth-place on the all-time list, as he would join: Nick Mascelli (1st, 252), Nick Dini (2nd, 245), Damian Csakai (3rd, 235), Vin Avella (4th, 229), and Joseph DiGeronimo (5th, 219). 
    • Additionally, Sabido needs two triples to become Wagner's all-time leader. Former Seahawk teammate, Anthony Pecora ('19) and Nick Papa ('06) are tied for the program lead with 13 career triples. 
  • Ryan Lauk needs nine strikeouts to reach the top-15 on the Wagner all-time career strikeout list. 
    • He would then sit in a tie with former Seahawk hurler, Kyle Morrison ('09), who finished his career with 147 strikeouts. 

 
About The Bulldogs...
  • Bryant enters the weekend on a four-game winning streak after completing a three-game sweep of Merrimack last weekend.
  • The Bulldogs outscored the Warriors, 20-4, over the three-game set. 
  • Bryant currently paces the NEC with an 18-3 league mark while Central Connecticut is second at 16-8. Sacred Heart (14-7) and LIU (13-10) currently round up the top-four teams. 
 
On Deck...
  • Wagner closes out the 2021 season on the road at Sacred Heart. 
  • The three-game series commences on Thursday, May 20, and runs through Saturday, May 22.
