The Series:
  • Wagner and Elon are squaring off for the first time since the 2014 season, in which the Phoenix won all three games.
  • All-time, the Seahawks are 12-39-2 against teams from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), with the last win coming against Northeastern, a 9-3 triumph back on March 14, 2015.
  • That victory snapped a six-game losing skid to start the season, in which the Green & White entered 0-8-1 after tying American Athletic Conference (AAC) member, University of South Florida (USF) Bulls, on February 22 (4-4, 11 innings)
About Elon:
  • The Phoenix started the season 3-0 in taking the opening weekend series from Lafayette by a combined 22-2 score (9-1; 8-0; 5-1)
  • Elon was shutout by #22 ranked, NC State, 5-0, back on Feb. 19
  • Following that contest, they split a two-game series with #20 ranked, Wake Forest (Won, 6-3; Lost 13-7) before falling to #11 ranked, East Carolina, 5-3, on Wednesday.
  • George Kirby repeated as Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Pitcher of the Week after allowing one run on six hits through seven innings of work after striking out 11 Quinnipiac batters.
  • Joe Satterfield currently leads the Phoenix with a .375 batting average while Ty Adock has a team-best two home runs and 11 RBIs through the first eight games for Elon.

About The Seahawks:
  • Senior infielder, Will Johnson, currently leads the squad with a .389 batting average, which is good for fourth in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
  • Johnson and classmate, Joe Silvestrone, are among the top-ten in the league in slugging percentage, with Silvestrone ranking sixth with a .542 slugging percentage and Johnson producing a .444 slugging percentage early on this season.
  • On the hill, junior right-hander Nick Zuppe leads the circuit with ten strikeouts, while teammate, Eric Ligda, is second with eight punchouts.
  • Sophomore infielder Mike Ruggiero went 5-for-9 during opening weekend, scoring two runs and driving in his first career RBI. Fellow teammate, Ben Montenegro, came on as pinch-hitter on Saturday, going 2-for-3 combined and driving in three RBIs, all coming in game one of last Saturday's twinbill.

Wagner in 2018:
  • The Green & White are coming off a magical season, in which the ball club rewrote several records, including setting the new benchmark for wins in a single-season (38) and conference victories (21).
  • Wagner rattled off two separate, nine-game winning streaks (March 10-25 & March 29-April 11), outscoring its opponents by a combined 151-to-66.
  • The Seahawks concluded the 2018 season winning 13 of its final 17 contests to claim a share of the 2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) regular season championship, the first time program has done so since 2009.
  • Wagner went 13-1 in home contests (7-0 at Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George) while leading the entire NCAA with 23 road triumphs a season ago.
  • In the NEC, Wagner led the circuit in ERA (4.15) while finishing the regular season with a league-best .974 fielding percentage. The club ranked second in hits (505), total bases (751) and stolen bases (61).
  • Individually, Wagner had a program-high six all-league selections, four of which being named to the First Team, which includes rising senior left-hander, Neil Abbatiello, junior reliever, Nick Robino and classmate, Freddy Sabido, who returns as the team's leader in most offensive categories.
  • Head Coach Jim Carone, who embarks on his eighth season, was named NEC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career, becoming the first Wagner baseball head coach to win the award multiple times
  • Robino was named 2019 Collegiate Baseball Pre-Season All-American, powered by Diamond Sports and announced by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper back on December 18, 2018
  • Wagner was picked third in the preseason coaches' poll that was announced back on February 1.

On Deck:
  • Following the three-game series at Elon, Wagner will travel to Charlottesville, VA to square off against ACC members, the University of Virginia Cavaliers for a two-game set, beginning on March 5.
