Smithfield, RI - The Wagner men's lacrosse team makes the long trek to Rhode Island to meet the Bryant University Bulldogs on Saturday, April 7 in a 1:00 p.m. faceoff.
The Seahawks enter Saturday's play at 4-6 on the season, 0-2 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play having dropped a 12-7 home decision to Saint Joseph's last time out. Bryant sits atop the NEC standings with a perfect 3-0 league mark and the Bulldogs are 5-5 overall.
Senior
attackman Andrew Streilein leads the team with 26 points. On the season,
Streilein has deposited 15 goals, good for second on the team, to go with a team-leading 11 assists.
Junior
attackman John Norton is tied for second on the squad in scoring with 20 points, on a team-leading 16 goals, to go with four assists. Sophomore
attackman Nic Ancona is the other Seahawk with 20 points, which have come on 14 goals and six assists, and his .519 shooting percentage tops the team.
Senior defenseman
Andrew Park paces the Green & White in both ground balls (31) and caused turnovers (24), with a 2.40 CTs per game average, which ranks No. 5 in the nation and tops in the NEC. The Seahawk triumvirate of Park (24), freshman
Kyle Stofko (15) and junior Riley Owns (7), have combined for 48 caused turnovers which rank No. 5 nationally among three teammates.
Junior goalie
Matt Sefcik ranks fourth in the nation in both save percentage (.602) and saves per game (12.70).
In the
faceoff department, freshman midfielder
Hank Ontiveros leads the way (50-of-102-.490), along with sophomore midfielder
Nick Warren (36-of-93-.387).
As a team, the Seahawks rank No. 7 nationally in both caused turnovers per game (9.20) and man-down defense (0.781).
