Merion Station | Philadelphia | Plymouth Meeting, PA – The Wagner baseball team will tour the state of Pennsylvania this weekend, as the Seahawks take on Saint Joseph's on Friday, March 16 and La Salle on March 17, before concluding the weekend on Sunday, March 18 at Villanova. 



All-Time Series With Saint Joseph's University Hawks:
  • Wagner and Saint Joseph's will be meeting for just the sixth time time in program history with Saint Joseph's leading the head-to-head series 3-2.
  • The last time these to teams met was back on March 13, 2015, as the Hawks defeated Wagner, 7-2. 
  • Wagner's two wins over the Hawks came as part of a April 30, 2011 doubleheader, as Wagner bested SJU, 4-1, in game one and shutout out the Hawks, 5-0, on Staten Island. 



 All-Time Series With La Salle University Explorers: 
  • Wagner and La Salle are meeting for the sixth time in program history with the Explorers leading 4-1.
  • The last time these teams played was back on March 15, 2013, when Wagner dropped an 8-7 decision. 



All-Time Series With Villanova University Wildcats:
  • Wagner and Big East member Villanova are meeting for the tenth time in program history with the Wildcats holding a 6-3 advantage in the head-to-head series. 
  • The last time these teams played was back on April 18, 2017, when the Seahawks dropped an 8-4 decision in extra innings at home. 



Scouting Wagner:
  • The Seahawks, winners of four straight, have outscored their opponents 38-18 over the span of the winning streak. holding their opposition to a .252 batting average.
  • Junior Phil Capra, the reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Co-Player of the Week, is batting .400 (6-for-15) while pacing the club in runs scored (8), home runs (3), and slugging (1.000) during the win streak. 
  • On the mound during Wagner's win streak, sophomore RHP Nick Robino has been a constant and consistent arm out of the bullpen, posting a 1.59 ERA in three appearances while striking out six and walking two while holding batters to just a .158 batting average.
  • Overall, Capra is batting a team-best .350 with six home runs and 21 RBIs while posting a total OPS (on-base + slugging percentage) of 1.103. 
  • Junior LHP Neil Abbatiello is the team leader with 25 strikeouts on the season. 



Scouting Saint Joseph's :
  • The Hawks enter with an overall record of 6-7 after picking up a pair of victories over Notre Dame.
  • Charlie Concannon is the team's leading hitter at .347. Dominic Cuoci is the team's leader in home runs with two, while Brendan Hueth has driven in a team-high eight RBIs.
  • Collectively, Saint Joseph's is batting .235 while going 8-of-9 in steal attempts. 
  • On the mound, Tim Brennan along with Brian Edgington, each have two wins on the season while Steve Powles has recorded two saves. Brennan has struck out a team-high 23 batters while only issuing two walks. 



Scouting LaSalle :
  • As of March 14, the Explorers enter play with a 4-10 overall record. 
  • Four players have hit .300 or better, led by Ben Faso, who has connected for a .362 average in his first 13 games. 
  • Chase Arnold, batting .302, is the team's leading home run hitter with three while driving in a team-best 12 RBIs. 
  • On the mound, Mike Anthony has two wins in six appearances, all in relief. Colin Kennedy, who is scheduled to see the Seahawks, is the team's leader in strikeouts with 18. 



Scouting Villanova :
  • The Wildcats, who are 4-8 on the season, will play a pair of NEC schools this weekend in Sacred Heart and Wagner. They will also take on Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) member Manhattan. 
  • Three players are hitting over .300, led by John Heilenbach, who is batting .342. Ryan Toohers and David Gulati have each hit a home run while Timothy Lilly is the team's leading RBI producer with nine. 
  • On the mound, Ryan Doty has two of the four wins while striking out a team-high 23 batters. 

Up Next For Wagner:
  • Wagner is scheduled to play its home opener on Wednesday, March 21 when the Green & White host Monmouth. First pitch between the Seahawks and the Hawks is slated for 3:00 p.m.
