Staten Island, NY –
The Wagner men's lacrosse team will look to move to 2-1 on the young season when the Seahawks host the Monmouth University Hawks of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Wednesday in a 3:00 p.m. faceoff at Hameline Field.

This battle between the Seahawks and Hawks features teams that are tied for No. 1 in the nation in caused turnovers per game (11.00). In addition, the Green & White are ranked No. 4 in scoring defense (6.5) and No. 5 in saves per game (14.5).

After opening the season with an impressive 11-5 win over another MAAC foe, Manhattan (2/10), the Green & White dropped a hard-fought 8-7 double-overtime decision at Lafayette (2/16) as the Leopards rallied late for the win.

The Hawks enter Wednesday's play with an 0-1 mark after being edged in similar fashion at No. 18 Princeton (2/17) by a 9-8 count in double-overtime.

Senior attackman Andrew Streilein (3g, 4a) and junior attackman John Norton (5g) pace the Seahawks in scoring with seven and five points, respectively. Senior defenseman Andrew Park leads the Green & White in both ground balls (10) and caused turnovers (6).

In goal, junior Matt Sefcik has been sensational in Wagner's first two games with a 690 save percentage (No. 2 in nation), 29 saves (14.5/game – No. 4 in nation), and a 6.28 goals against average (No. 6 in nation). In the faceoff department, freshman Hank Ontiveros has gone 9-of-19 (.474) in the X.
