Men’s Lacrosse Opens NEC Play At Hobart On Saturday, March 18 In 2:00 PM Faceoff

The Wagner men's lacrosse team opens its 2017 Northeast Conference (NEC) schedule on Saturday, March 18 with a 2:00 p.m. faceoff at defending league champion Hobart.
 
The Wagner-Hobart game was originally scheduled to be played at Noon.

The 4-4 Seahawks saw their three-game winning streak come to a close with a tough 6-5 home loss to Mercer on March 11 while the Statesmen enter play with a record of 3-4 and are fresh off an 18-11 victory over Canisius on Tuesday.
 
Junior attackman Andrew Streilein (Lenape, NJ / Mt. Laurel) leads the Seahawks in scoring with 20 points on 12 goals and eight assists. The 12 goals are tied for the team lead in goals with junior midfielder Joe Lomeli (Clark, NJ / A.L. Johnson / NJIT), who checks in with 16 points on 12 goals and four assists.
 
Freshman attackman Nick Ancona (Warrenton, VA / Paul VI) has totaled 15 points (9g, 6a), while fifth-year senior midfielder Paul DeVita (Westfield, NJ / Westfield) and freshman attackman Dominick Branda (Ringwood, NJ / Don Bosco Prep) have tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively. DeVita's 12 points have come on nine goals and three assists while Branda's 11 points this season have come on seven goals and four assists.
 
Sophomore Matt Sefcik (Towaco, NJ / Morristown Beard) has made 93 saves and allowed 66 goals for a .585 save percentage and 8.72 GAA both of which are tops in the NEC.
 
Senior midfielder Anthony Labetti (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) and junior midfielder Nick Warren (Granby, CT / Granby Memorial / Mount St. Mary's) split time at the faceoff X for Wagner. Labetti is 32-of-79 for a 40.5 winning percentage and Warren is 32-of-67 for a 47.8 percentage. Labetti also has 16 ground balls, which ranks fourth on the team. Athletic junior defender Andrew Park (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon) leads the Green & White in groundballs (27) and caused turnovers. Those 19 CTs compute to 2.38 per game which ranks second in the NEC and fifth in the nation.
