Staten Island, NY - Following a nine-day break, the Wagner women's basketball team will play just its second home game of the season when the Seahawks host the Longwood University Lancers of the Big South Conference on Sunday, December 10 in a 1:00 p.m. tip at the Spiro Sports Center. The Wagner-Longwood matchup is the first game of a doubleheader, as the Seahawk men's team hosts Division II Mercy College at 4:00 p.m.

Today's game marks the first-ever meeting between Wagner College and Longwood University, which is located in Farmville, VA. The respective campuses of these institutions are separated by 393 miles, which is an approximate 6.5-hour drive.Â

Sierra Clark (Hughesville, MD / Archbishop Spalding), who was recruited to and played for
Heather Jacobs at Adelphi University where she went on to earn Division II All-American honors last season, is averaging 15.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Through eight games, the 5-11 Clark now has four double-doubles, four 20-point games, and six double-digit efforts to her credit.

On November 30, Wagner scratched and clawed all night defensively at Towson University and entered the fourth quarter trailing by just nine points before the Tigers pulled away for a 64-42 win. Fifth-year senior forward

Khaleah Dixon-Edwards made the most of her second straight start, hitting for nine points thanks to a trio of three-point jumpers, while senior guard
Tanasia Russell added six. For Towson, Raine Bankston led the way with 16 points while Mary Cuevas had 15. With Wagner trailing by an early 6-4 count, Towson went on a 14-2 run in taking a 20-6 lead after one quarter of play. After the Tigers outscored Wagner 11-8 in taking their biggest lead of the half at 31-14, Wagner responded with a 7-0 run to help trim the deficit to 33-21 at the intermission. Second-year head
Heather Jacobs, who has built a pair of championship programs during her nine-year coaching career, is in her second season as heasd coach of the Widely regarded as a rising star in the coaching profession, the second-year Seahawk head coach enters her second season on Grymes Hill after serving six seasons as head coach at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, where she led the Panthers to unprecedented success. The high water mark for Jacobs at Adelphi came in 2014-15 when she led her team to a 28-4 record and an 18-2 mark in the NE-10 Conference, claiming the program's first-ever league championship and hosting the NCAA Division II East Regional. Adelphi was ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation and tied a program record for most wins in a season, and Jacobs earned ECAC Division II and All-Met Coach of the Year honors . Jacobs came to Adelphi, where she also served as assistant athletic director, following a three-year stint as the head coach/senior women's administrator at Daniel Webster College, a Division III institution in Nashua, NH. In 2009-10, she was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coach of the Year following a school-record best finish of 20-6 and a regular season conference title.Â

Following the matchup vs. Longwood, Wagner will take a one-week break before hosting Princeton on Sunday, December 17. Tip-off between the Seahawks and the Tigers, who compete in the Ivy League, is set for 1:00 p.m.
