South Orange, NJ - After dropping three of four to Central Connecticut in Northeast Conference (NEC) action this past weekend, the Wagner baseball team will look to bounce back and stop a three-game losing streak as the Seahawks make the short trip to South Orange, NJ to clash with Big East rival, Seton Hall, at Owen T. Carroll Field on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH SETON HALL:- The Seahawks and Pirates have met 38 times with Seton Hall holding a commanding 31-7 edge in the head-to-head series.
- Wagner is 3-7 in its last ten meetings against Seton Hall.
- The Green & White are looking for their first win at Seton Hall since April 14, 2010, when they defeated the Pirates, 7-6.
ON DECK FOR WAGNER:
- After Wednesday's contest, NEC play resumes as Wagner travels to LIU Brooklyn to meet the Blackbirds in a four-game series, starting on Friday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER: - Despite out-hitting Central Connecticut, 11-10, Wagner team was unable to overcome a pair of four-run innings in falling to the Blue Devils, 8-2, in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader.
- Sophomore RF Kyle Cala (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) went 3-for-4 with a run scored while freshman 1B Anthony Harrold (Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) went 2-for-4. Sophomore SS Sean Mazzio (West Chester, PA/Salesianum School [DE]) and freshman Cole Heavilin (Vista, CA/Rancho Buena Vista) each had an RBI for the Seahawks.
- Senior LHP Matt Morris (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) suffered his second loss of the season, tossing 4.1 innings, allowing six hits, four earned runs and striking out three. Seniors Nick Pavia (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph By The Sea) and Nick DiLeo (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier [St. John's]) combined to toss 3.1 scoreless innings of relief.
RUTA ON A TEAR:- Senior Ben Ruta (West Windsor, NJ/West-Windsor Plainsboro South) has been on a tear over his last ten games.
- In this stretch, the veteran outfielder is batting .415 (17-41) with four doubles, 11 RBIs and nine runs scored with a .512 slugging percentage, to go with three stolen bases.
- Ruta had a season-high 12-game hitting streak snapped in the first game of the April 2 doubleheader against Central Connecticut when he went hitless in three at-bats.
MASCELLI'S CONSECUTIVE GAMES PLAYED STREAK SNAPPED:- Junior SS Nick Mascelli (Clifton, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) had his consecutive games played streak end at 123 when the third-year Seahawk didn't play in the four-game series at home against the Central Connecticut Blue Devils last weekend due to injury.
- The veteran shortstop ranks third in the nation in hitting with a .474 batting average and among the top 50 nationally in on-base percentage, ranking 30th at .512.
- Additionally, Mascelli is the third-toughest batter in all of the Division I to strike out, only fanning twice this season (once at VCU and once at home against Fordham).
HARROLDING AROUND THE PLATE:- Freshman 1B Anthony Harrold (Woodbury, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) is batting .372 with 2 home runs and 13 RBIs in his last ten games.
SEAHAWKS IN PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL:- Finished his first season of professional baseball as a member of the Idaho Falls Chukars (Rookie | Pioneer League| Kansas City Royals organization).
- The 2015 NEC Player of the Year batted .316 with four home runs and 29 RBIs, to go along with 11 doubles, 16 walks and an OPS (On-base + Slugging Percentage) of .847
- The 2015 NEC All-First Teamer a season ago embarks on his second season of professional ball as he will start the year pitching for the Great Lakes Loons (Class A | Midwest League | Los Angeles Dodgers organization).
- After a sensational stop playing for the Arizona League Dodgers (5-1, 1.11 ERA, 30 Ks, 12 BB), Long got promoted to Great Lakes, finishing the year with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Ian Miller:
- A 2013 NEC First-Teamer, Miller, will get started on his fourth year of pro ball as he earned a spot on the Jackson Generals (Double-A | Southern League | Seattle Mariners organization).
- For his 2015 season (split between Bakersfield and Jackson), Miller batted .267 with 50 stolen bases in 68 chances while driving in 29 runs and scored 60 runs. Miller was a part of the Mariners spring training roster for the second straight season.
Andrew Bailey:
- The highest draft pick in Wagner history, a sixth-round choice of the Oakland A's in the 2006 MLB Draft, right-hander Andrew Bailey begins his 10th overall year as a professional baseball player. All-time, the 2009 American League Rookie of the Year holds an 11-13 record with a career 2.74 ERA in 216 games. He has tossed 226.2 innings while recording 89 saves in 106 save opportunities while also striking out 233 batters and walking just 74 in his major league career.
- Bailey will begin the 2016 campaign pitching for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies).
