NORTHEAST CONFERENCE PLAY RESUMES AT RICHMOND COUNTY BANK BALLPARK...
- After its final midweek contest of the regular season, the Wagner baseball team turns its attention back to Northeast Conference (NEC) action as the Seahawks welcome the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers to Staten Island for a four-game set.
- These squads previously met back in March in Emmitsburg, MD with the Seahawks taking all four games, outscoring the Mountaineers by a combined 53-14 margin.
LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER...
- The Wagner baseball team was blanked in its midweek non-conference contest against the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights 8-0 at home on Wednesday afternoon.
- With the loss, the Seahawks fell to 10-23 overall while the Scarlet Knights improved to 18-19.
- Despite the outcome of the today's contest, a pair of milestones were reached as senior Trey Nicosia (State College, PA/State College Area) recorded his 100th career hit as a Seahawk while freshman James Wise (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) notched his first collegiate hit.
- Junior RHP Danny Marsh (Monroe Township, NJ/Monroe Township) suffered his first loss of the season (0-1) after tossing two innings, allowing three hits, an earned run, two walks, and a strikeout.
- A trio of seniors, Paul Mammino (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) Nick DiLeo (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier [St. John's]) and Nathan Hunt (Kirtland, OH/Hawken School), along with freshman Cory Heitler (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn), pitched effectively in relief for Wagner. They combined to throw 3.2 innings of scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and walking just two batters.
SERIES HISTORY...
- Wagner and Mount St. Mary's resume its NEC series with the Seahawks holding a commanding 51-37 all-time lead in the head-to-head series.
- Over the last ten games in the series, Wagner is 7-3, having outscored the Mount, 97-39.
NICOSIA JOINS 100-HIT CLUB...
- In the bottom of the third inning of Wednesday's midweek contest at Rutgers, senior outfielder Trey Nicosia (State College, PA/State College Area) recorded his 100th hit as a Seahawk, becoming the 52nd player all-time to do so.
WISE DECISION...
- In Wednesday's contest against Rutgers, freshman James Wise (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) laced a single into centerfield for his first career hit in the bottom of the ninth.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS...
- Mount St. Mary's enters this weekend's series with Wagner having gone 3-7 over its last ten games.
- After dropping its NEC series finale against Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-0, on April 17, the Mount erupted for a season-high 16 runs en route to a 16-6 victory over in-state rival, Coppin State on Wednesday afternoon.
- Vaughn Parker II and Ryan Owens combined for seven RBIs. Parker led the offensive attack with a 3-for-4 night as the freshman picked up a career-high four RBIs. Owens went 2-for-4 with three runs driven in and Tyler Post registered a pair of hits and RBIs.
- Offensively, the Mountaineers are hitting .232 as a club (225-for-969) while the team's hurlers as pitching to a 7.50 ERA.
- Owens leads the club in hitting, batting .316 on the seeason while Post is the team's leader in homeruns (4) and RBIs (22).
- On the mound, Chad Diehl leads the squad in wins (3), innings pitched (51.1) and strikeouts (40).

SEAHAWKS IN PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL:
Nolan Long
- The towering 6-10 righty is 1-1, with 4.50 ERA for the Great Lakes Loons.
- Back on April 15, 2016, Long made his first start of the season, tossing three innings of one-hit ball, allowing a run, walking two and striking out three batters against the Lake County Captains (Class A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians).
- For the season, Long has 10 strikeouts to five walks (2:1 Strikeout-to-Walk Ratio).
Ian Miller
- Through eight games this season for the Double-A Jackson Generals (Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners), is batting .345 (10-for-29), with seven runs scored, four RBIs and two stolen bases.
- Miller currently sports a eight-game hit streak.
Andrew Bailey
- After pitching in four games for Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies), Bailey was recalled by the Philadelphia Phillies (MLB) on April 20.
- Bailey was 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in five innings pitched.
- During his stint in Lehigh Valley, he allowed just four hits, an earned run while yielding just two walks and striking out ten batters as the opposition was batting just .211 against the 31-year old right hander.
Nick Dini
- Finished his first season of professional baseball as a member of the Idaho Falls Chukars (Rookie | Pioneer League| Kansas City Royals organization).
- The 2015 NEC Player of the Year batted .316 with four home runs, 29 RBIs to go along with 11 doubles, 16 walks and a OPS (On-base + Slugging Percentage) of .847.
- The Chukars open their season on June 15.
