Norfolk, VA - The Wagner baseball team returns to action on its second trip to Virginia for a total of three games with the Norfolk State University Spartans. The Seahawks and Spartans will play two on Saturday, March 5 starting at 1:00 p.m. with the series closing on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

The Green & White opened the season a week ago with a 1-2 weekend against Longwood University.  Wagner was led offensively by junior shortstop Nick Mascelli (Clifton, NJ/Seton Hall Prep). The third-year Seahawk batted a blistering .571 (8-for-14) which included a 4-for-5 performance in Wagner's 6-4 victory in the series finale. The Clifton, NJ native also drove in a team-best three RBIs.

In addition to Mascelli, sophomore third baseman Sean Mazzio (West Chester, PA/Salesianum School [DE]) batted .444 (4-for-9) with two runs scored and a RBI.

A pair of All-Northeast Conference (NEC) teamers from a season ago, sophomore LF Anthony Godino (Thornwood, NY/Pleasantville) and senior RF Ben Ruta (West Windsor, NJ/West-Windsor Plainsboro South) each finished the weekend batting .385 with an RBI apiece.

The Seahawks will use senior RHP Mike Adams (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Holy Spirit) in the first game followed by junior RHP Austin Goeke (Bordentown, NJ/The Hun School) in the second game of the twin bill. Senior LHP Matt Morris (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) takes the hill in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.
