Seton Hall Silences Wagner 9-1

Box Score / Box Score (PDF)

South Orange, NJ -
Seton Hall (17-15) scored six times over the first two frames en route to a 9-1 victory over Wagner (12-22) in non-conference action at Owen T. Carroll Field.

The Seahawks will return to action on Friday, April 13 against LIU Brooklyn at Richmond County Bank Ballpark with first pitch slated for 3:00 pm.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Pirates opened the scoring with four runs on four hits before adding two more in the second and one in the third.

Wagner finally got on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Senior Eddie Brown (Edison, NJ / St. Joseph's (Metuchen) / Seton Hall) led off the frame with a single.  Following a fly out, junior Jayson Keel (Starkville, MS / Starkville / Holmes CC) delivered a double down the left field line. On the play, Brown would come around to score on an error by the catcher, cutting the deficit to 7-1. However that would be it for the Seahawk rally, as Keel would be stranded 90 feet from home.

Over the final five innings, the Green & White offense could only muster one more hit. In the top of the sixth inning, freshman Nick Dini (Monroe Township, NJ / Monroe Township) opened the frame with a double, extending his hitting streak to team-best 14 games.

Brown paced the Wagner attack, going 2-for-4 with a run while sophomore Ian Miller (Downingtown, PA / Bishop Shanahan) swiped his Northeast Conference (NEC) leading 18th and 19th bases of the year.

Giuseppe Papaccio was 4-for-4 with two runs to lead the way for Seton Hall.

Pirate LHP Greg Terhune allowed one unearned run on five hits over 5.0 innings in collecting the win while sophomore RHP Nick Pavia (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea) fell to 1-4 in defeat.
