Hanover, NH – The Wagner College men's lacrosse team dropped an 18-9 decision at Dartmouth this afternoon. With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-4 on the season while the Big Green improve to 2-1. 

Dartmouth jumped out to a 9-1 lead and eventually built the lead to 18-5 before the Seahawks scored the last four goals of the game to fashion the final score at 18-9. 

Junior attack Will Macumber (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor) tallied three goals for the Seahawks while freshmen Cody Isdaner (Gladwyne, PA/Episcopal Academy) and Brian Faughnan (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) chipped in with two goals apiece. 

Also scoring goals for Wagner were sophomore attack Mike Hurley (Billerica, MA/Billerica) and senior midfielder Sean Travis (Calverton, NY/Riverhead). Senior goalie Michael Gutkin (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) had 12 saves for the Seahawks. Dartmouth was led in scoring by Josh Etzion, who tallied five goals and four assists on the afternoon, while Ari Sussman added three goals and two assists for the Big Green. 

Statistically, the game was closer than the final score would indicate as Wagner won 18-of-30 faceoffs. Junior midfielder Tim Schweitzer (Babylon, NY/East Islip) was 10-of-18 in faceoffs while sophomore midfielder John Rushton (West Islip, NY/West Islip) and senior midfielder Chris Ridente (Cranford,, NJ/Cranford) won 4-of-4 and 4-of-7 faceoffs, respectively. 

Dartmouth held a slim lead in shots (43-38) and ground balls (39-36). Wagner was hurt by committing 25 turnovers while the Big Green turned the ball over 19 times. Both team's man-down defensive units did a fine job as Wagner was held to 2-of-9 in extra man opportunities while Dartmouth was 1-of-5 in extra man opportunities. 

Wagner is next in action on Saturday, March 20 when the Seahawks travel to Smithfield, RI to meet Bryant in a 1:00 pm faceoff.
