Leading the offense was sophomore Jared Gruccio (Landisville, NJ / Buena Regional), who continued his torrid hitting by going 3-5 at the plate with four RBI. After Gruccio gave Wagner a 1-0 lead in the first with a RBI ground out that scored Csakai, the Blue Devils responded with three runs in the second and one in the third.

The Seahawks tied the game up at 4-4 in the fourth, scoring three times. Sophomore Joe Jamison (West Caldwell, NJ / James Caldwell) and Csakai recorded back-to-back singles with one out. After Csakai stole second, Gruccio drove the pair home with a double to right center. A batter later, freshman Tommy Higgins (Port Monmouth, NJ / Red Bank Catholic) singled to center, plating Gruccio.

Wagner kept up the hitting in the fifth inning, scoring five runs while batting around. Sophomore Jon Lucas (Hackettstown, NJ / Hackettstown) walked and Drechsel singled to left, leading off the frame. After a fly out, classmate Brian Martutartus (Carlsbad, CA / La Costa Canyon) was hit by a pitch, loading up the bases. Junior Joe Conforti (Staten Island, NY / Farrell) then drew a full-count pinch-hit walk, forcing in Lucas while giving the Seahawks the lead at 5-4. Csakai made it 7-4 with a two-run single, plating Drechsel and Martutartus. Gruccio then collected his fourth RBI of the game with a single to center field, before Csakai scored on a pass ball, making it 9-4 Green & White.

Boyd added some insurance in the bottom of the eighth, belting a two-run home run deep over the right-field fence.
