MADISON, N.J. — Wagner is set to host the Coppin State Eagles for a weekend series in Madison, New Jersey, fresh off a series win at Delaware State.
The Seahawks are now 26-20 in 2026, 19-8 in NEC play with wins in their last five weekend series. Coppin State enters the weekend at 9-33, now 9-18 in NEC play.
Last Week Out
The Seahawks opened the weekend in dominant fashion, with senior Colin Trizuto going 7.0 innings for his second complete game of the season where he allowed just one run on a pair of hits.
Saturday's game saw the Seahawks go uncharacteristically cold at the plate, scoring just one run on a pair of hits as Hornets pitcher Jeremy Vest was lights out on the mound. Wagner came back revived on Sunday, though, and took a 15-5 win in nine innings, scoring in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
Coppin State had a long outing on Tuesday, taking on UMBC in what became an eleven-inning showdown that saw the Eagles fall 9-8. Before that, the Eagles hosted New Haven for the weekend. The Chargers took the opener 7-6, then the Eagles came back Saturday to win 6-3, but New Haven managed to secure a 9-8 win on Sunday to take the series from Coppin State.
NEC Nod
Both Wagner and Coppin State enter the weekend having won an individual NEC weekly award. Trizuto earned Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, while Coppin State's Angel Garcia earned Rookie of the Week for a 6-for-15 week where he recorded seven RBIs and three triples across four games.
The 2025 Series
Wagner hit the road to Baltimore to end the month of March in the 2025 matchup between the two teams. The Seahawks, two weekends into conference play, were coming off a tough series loss to LIU.
Wagner took the opener 13-9, then came back Saturday for a 12-7 victory to take the series. Sunday's matchup was closer, a 6-4 win for the Seahawks to secure the series.
